• The candidates under this category must have valid GATE score in admissible examination paper (See: MTech Discipline & Specialization and Admissible GATE Examination Paper).
• They pursue MTech programme at the Institute on full time basis.
• They are entitled to receive Financial Assistantship/ Scholarship from IIT Guwahati at the rate of Rs.12,400/- per month (tenable for a maximum period of 24 months) as per the governing rules subject to satisfactory academic progress and satisfactory performance in assigned teaching assistant duty.
• The final admission to the candidates under this cateogry is based on
  • either 100% weightage to the performance in GATE and with/ withoug counselling.
  • or 70% weightage to the performance in GATE and 30% weightage to other components like performance in written test and/ or interview conducted by the concerned academic department/ center, academic credential of the candidates, etc.
• The mode of application submission for this category is ONLINE and they also should register in the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP)-2021 and enter the detail of COAP-2021 Registration Number during online application submission process for MTech to IITG.

• The candidates under this category must have BTech degree from one of the IITs with a minimum CPI / CGPA of 8.0 in a 10-point scale.
• They pursue MTech programme at the Institute on full time basis.
• They are exempted from the requiement of valid GATE score.
• They are entitled to receive Financial Assistantship/ Scholarship from IIT Guwahati at the rate of Rs.12,400/- per month (tenable for a maximum period of 24 months) as per the governing rules subject to satisfactory academic progress and satisfactory performance in assigned teaching assistant duty.
• The final admission to the candidates under this cateogry is based on the performance in the written test and / or interview conducted by the concerned academic department/ center, academic credential of the candidates, etc.

• The candidates under this category are sponsored (with salary and study leave for 24 months) by a recognized R&D organization, academic institution, governmental organization or industry for doing MTech at IIT Guwahati.
• They pursue MTech programme at the Institute on full time basis.
• They are NOT entitled to receive any financial assistance from the Institute.
• The candidate under this category must be a regular employee of his/her organization with at least 2 (two) years of experience at the time of admission and be engaged in professional work in the discipline in which admission is sought.
• They should submit Sponsorship Letter in prescribed format (See: Sponsorship Letter Format DOC, PDF) from the employer along with the application. The application without Sponsorship Letter will NOT be considered.
• The final admission to the candidates under this category is based on the performance in the written test and/ or interview conducted by the concerned academic department/ center, academic credentials of the candidates, etc.
• The mode of application submission for this category is ONLINE.

• The candidates under this category are professionally employed personnel (including regular employees of IIT Guwahati), who can attend classes in the first year at the Institute while employed. These candidates should be able to attend regular classes as per the schedule of the Institute.
• They pursue MTech programme at the Institute on part time basis.
• The Institute does NOT Institute Scholarship to the students under this category.
• The candidate under this category must be a regular employee of his/her organization with at least 2 (two) years of experience at the time of applying and be engaged in professional work in the discipline in which admission is sought.
• They should submit No Objection Certificate in prescribed format (See: NOC Format DOC, PDF) from the employer along with the application. The application without No Objection Certificate will NOT be considered.
• The final admission to the candidates under this category is based on the performance in the written test and / or interview conducted by the concerned academic department/ center, academic credentials of the candidates, etc.
• The mode of application submission for this category is ONLINE.

• The candidates under this category are presently working in a sponsored R&D projects of IIT Guwahati.
• They pursue MTech programme at the Institute on part time basis.
• The remaining duration of the project at the time of admission should be at least one year.
• They are not entitled to receive Scholarship from the Institute.
• They should submit No Objection Certificate in prescribed format (See: NOC Format DOC, PDF) from IIT Guwahati (Dean-R&D) along with the application. The application without No Objection Certificate will NOT be considered.
• The final admission to the candidates under this category is based on the performance in the written test and/ or interview conducted by the concerned academic department/ center, academic credentials of the candidates, etc.
• The mode of application submission for this category is ONLINE.

The candidates should NOT submit two application forms with two different studentship category for an MTech program of one discipline/ one department.

For students pursuing MTech on part-time basis, the hostel accommodation is NOT provided. If the hostel accommodation is needed, they have to request for it and pay the required fees for it and it is subject to availability.
